How to play

Start with the visible goal, make your move, and build on the result.

  1. 01

Choose an opponent from the difficulty ladder, then pick one of your six pits to sow its seeds counterclockwise, one per pit.

  2. 02

Land your last seed in an opponent pit that then holds 2 or 3 seeds to capture it — captures chain backward through consecutive qualifying pits.

  3. 03

The game ends when a side can no longer be fed; remaining board seeds go to whichever side still has seeds. Capture the most seeds to win.

What to expect

Climb a ladder of opponents with real sowing tactics.

Oware is a full rule-based mancala engine — real sowing, wraparound, and chained captures — played against a heuristic AI that gets tougher as you climb the ladder.

Opponent ladder

Numbered opponents with increasing strength, saved locally as you beat each one.

Real sowing rules

Counterclockwise sowing with proper wraparound and backward-chaining captures.

Traditional roots

A real implementation of Ghana’s classic mancala tradition, not a generic board reskin.
